Will the 2020 Season be Canceled?

Will the 2020 Season be Canceled?

The Cape Cod Baseball League is hopeful that the 2020 season will start as scheduled on Saturday, June 13. On April 1, the league issued a COVID-19 statement:

The Cape Cod Baseball League is continuing to monitor the  updates from local, state, and federal  officials on what we may expect in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead. At this time, our hope is to start the 2020 season as scheduled on Saturday June 13, 2020.

The  Cape Cod Baseball League Officers are meeting frequently via conference call discussing alternative plans should the need arise for the 2020 season. We will keep you updated, on any further impact the COVID-19 situation has on our season. Thank you for your continued support and stay safe and healthy.

Other collegiate summer leagues are also hopeful to begin on time, but there have already been some announcements. On April 2, 2020, the Valley Baseball League in Virginia officially canceled its entire 2020 season (read their official statement). On March 30, 2020, the Royal Oak Leprechauns announced that they will not be joining the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League due to COVID-19 delays (read The Oakland Press news article).
